Did you know that gift cards are the most wanted item for 2021?! It’s true! According to the NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics October 2021 Consumer Holiday Survey, a whopping 56% of consumers listed gift cards as the top gift they would like to receive this holiday season. 1

The demand for gift cards is substantial. Last year, 81% of U.S. consumers gave at least one gift card during the holiday season. 2 The global gift certificate market was worth $295.2 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $170.78 billion by the end of 2021. 3

Everyone has someone in their life who is impossible to think of gifts for! Gift cards are a great option for the person who already has everything. They are great as a last-minute gift and for those unsure about what specific physical gift to get. hearing-related, from batteries, chargers, TV adaptors, remote controls, Bluetooth devices, wax guards, and all other general accessories.

Besides the benefit of being easy to purchase and practical for customers, gift cards are also beneficial for your business!

Gift cards with your business name and logo on them are a great way to expand your branding. Like grocery or clothing stores, consider putting the sold products in a branded shopping bag for customers after purchase for added public exposure.

Another major benefit of gift cards is attracting new customers and securing repeat business. Having someone purchase a gift card and give it to a friend or family member is reaching a new audience of customers who may not have previously been inclined to visit your hearing aid practice.

You can also grow your business by donating gift cards to your business to fundraising or other charitable events in your local community. This is a great way to give back without limiting those in need to just one specific service or item.

Some Tips for Getting Started:

– Consider if the gift cards will be used at one or multiple locations.

– Decide if gift cards will be a seasonal or year-round option. Having a nice cardholder, small gift box, or envelope for your gift cards with the labels “to” and “from” can help customers visualize them as an easy and convenient gift that can be purchased and given as a physical gift.

– Check federal and state gift card laws. Ensure you set expiration dates according to state and federal guidelines.

Last year, 81% of U.S. consumers gave at least one gift card during the holiday season. ²

– Set policies such as limiting the number of gift cards customers can purchase or not allowing customers to buy gift cards with gift cards.
– Choose the style that works best for you. Many practices choose between e-gift cards, gift certificates, or barcode gift cards. There are likely many different, easy-to-use options for gift cards of each variety through your existing POS system; just contact them to see what’s available. There are also independent apps that allow you to offer gift cards.
– Implement a system to track gift cards so you know the amount held by customers and how many have been sold. You will also want to track when/if they expire.
